Show Time!

After last minute questions like... "what time are you getting there?" during Susan and my walk with Val on Tues., I went home and finished many small details to get ready for our 2nd shared show with Val's and my felted sweaters, purses and other sweet things the next day! Hard to believe, but we managed to remember everything except a calculator and Val even beat me there!

The show was for Vista Hills Charity fundraiser and our tables were right up front and center to the ballroom doors! A great spot! We actually were ready in no time at all and then went "shopping" at other vendors. We made some great connections - new friends and hugged old friends we hadn't seen in a while!

Above are some shots of our table, and goodies. Check out Val's sweater! It was the perfect "Barbie Pink" - did I mention the show was honoring "Barbie's 50th Birthday"? It looked great on her and she got a lot of positive feedback on it!

Guests soon started arriving and we became the "hang out" place for groups of socialites, with hats, stilettos and designer dresses! Many women wished they had "little" girls or boys as they handled and awed over our work. Not surprisingly they loved my cashmere pieces and the stories felted on the front AND back of Val's sweaters. They moved from one sweater to another (loving to touch) as they worked their way down the table. When they came to my Barbies dressed to match their little girl tops - they pointed, laughed and went to get their friends to show them! The red top and Barbie was the first to go in a sale of pieces from Val and my sweaters.

We did sell a number of other things and gave 25% off the top to the charity - which was a good thing. Val was really good with shopping resistance, which unfortunately I wasn't. Not usually like me, but there was a pearl ring I couldn't resist once I put it on --- it just wouldn't come off. And then there was the purse vendor behind us - that had a lime green and purple bag that kept calling me. I figured if it was still there at the end it was meant to be mine! Needless to say, it'll be my laptop bag on the Chicago trip and a knitting bag after!

Since we were asked to stay set up until after the show...Val and I sneaked into the ballroom and watched the "Barbie" fashion show! It was a lot of fun, with singing, dancing and some really great looks and beautiful fashions on the runway! My friend Gretchen, who produced the show, came out afterward and saw our sweaters, and shared that she would work us into another show later in the year. She had 5 shows in April, so I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities!

The most amazing part of the day was loading all Val's stuff and all my stuff on my little rolling rack and between the two of us made it (without loosing anything) all the way to our cars!

Thanks Val, it was a fun day!
