Geeze, I just came across these photos which I meant to post after our L.A. trip. As you know, Judy and I were a little bummed that the Textile Show was for the big boys and not us little guys. We regrouped and went to the Fabric District where we scored The Linen! The above picture is of the funky little store where we found the absolute best linen for an incredibly low price.
It was a teeny tiny hole in the wall with fabrics stacked on huge rolls from floor to ceiling. Judy's "seed money" was burning a whole in her pocket. We were both thrilled to find the exact color palette we were looking for. Here's Judy spending her first dime on judipatutti fabric for the Grove.
At first we were going to have the fabrics shipped to San Diego but I couldn't imagine Judy not having them to look at and fondle on the train ride home so we divi'd them up and schlepped them to Union Station. Here's a happy Judy, standing with full shopping bags at her feet, waiting for our cabbie, Carlos, to pick us up on Santee St.
While none of this is current news, I did feel it important to mark the day, April 30, 2009, when we took our first concrete step towards officially partnering at the Grove! Hallelujah!
Oh, thanks so much for sharing. It gives me a visual of the trip. I love sharing it with you. I had another day of celebrating the arrival of Judy and Marcia and the big changes coming.
ReplyDeleteThree hot sewing books I ordered arrived tonight when I came home. Devouring them. Trying to juggle all of life including tenant work. Just part of life, but I just took a Jacuzzi bath in Joe's new (well kinda new) bathroom and I feel like a wet sponge. Man or man, I should do that more often. We have a heater in the tub, so nothing ever cools off. I am a sweaty happy relaxed momma.
So much more to talk about, good wishes to Marcia up north. I know first hand how hard it is. Stay strong and know there are many other options.
I am surrounded by beautiful new books and the joy of creating.
