The Debut!

Val's night was awesome! Not only did the scene go off without a hitch, but the audience loved the kids and their clothes!I felt like the nervous "big sister" always proding..."have you gone back stage yet?....have you fit the kids?....shouldn't you be back there?...." all the while thinking how can she be so calm - so in the moment - so in control! It seemed like Val had done this a million times before and I was the "newbie!"

Took every chance I could to move press in her direction. Got our pictures taken for the upcoming Latino mag "Giente Bien" which means "Beautiful People"! Managed to corner Graham from SD Mag to shoot Val in front of her booth. Hopefully both will show up in next month's issues! You just never know...

Here's some shots of "calm Val" before the show.

The clothes waiting to for their debut!

The kids back stage....yes I know, I wasn't suppose to be back there. But you just act like you're an authority and no one questions you! Love it! Had the sense not to use the flash, used ambient light from the stage. These shots are right behind the center stage with the draped backdrop. The kids look calm too! Was I the only one on pins and needles??? Such pros!

And then after the show! Much to be happy about - especially the "flawless walk" down the runway!

Encore! Encore! Val!

Style Awards 2010 Filled with Fabulous!

Well, the Style Awards show has come and gone, and it was filled with so much fun and fashion that my head is still spinning! There was no better carrot at the end of the tunnel than seeing these four sweeties dressed in my creations. Aren't they just adorable?!

And who is my most favorite friend and mentor in all of this? Why, Judipatuti, of course! It was a night of success for Judy and her crew, who made everything go off without a hitch. The Gretchen Productions creation was another fantastic show, which she puts on with an air of gracefulness and shine, each and every time. I am going to post the videos we took of the show on my blog later today. You will actually see me walking down the catwalk!

And, last but not least, the bad boy 5" heels that made the second toe in my left foot numb, still numb today. I am just not cut out for high heels! But Judy made me promise to NOT switch to my comfy flats. She warned me to walk out barefoot before I changed to flats! That Judy, she really knows ALL the tricks! No wonder, she is so well loved by all in her fashion world! I love you too, Judy, and thank you for all your support and advice.

Ouch, my poor feet! This was right before we left the "after party", when I couldn't stand for another minute!

Creating a Collection...

Susan and I visited Val on Tuesday, a beautiful clear and windy day. Even though there were wind advisories on the bridge, I managed to snap a picture that reminds us all why we live here!

When we got to Val's I was able to see first hand Val's creating "stations"...

On one end of her dinning table was Mr. Singer, on the other end was a skirt pined for pleats and ready to cut out with yarn balls displayed as a centerpiece and felting station on one side ready for Val to pick up the needle and start felting.

Now you would think that would pretty much take care of everything one would need to make things happen...but then as I looked around the first thing I really stopped me dead in my tracks was the most adorable little dress hanging (where else but) on a sconce on the wall! The first completed part of her collection for the FGI Style Awards - Night of the Stars show.

Per Val's request I swore us all to secrecy on what the collection is going to look like...but she let me snap a few teasers of what's to come!

On the floor on one area were stacks and stacks of sweaters in beautiful color pallets (sp?). And then she showed us the little boys fabrics and sweater swatches...so perfect! Of course, Lola couldn't be left out...notice the fluffy white patty paw!

Susan and I were standing in the middle of the room for the longest time just amazed by all the creativity that surrounded us! We told Val that we hope she'll remember all of us when she moves to NY or Paris and becomes a couture designer! We can all say we remember her when....

Can't wait to see it all come together Val! It's going to be awesome!!!

Brockton Villa Brunch with Lorraine

Ah, another lovely time at Brockton Villa. Thank you, my dear friends, for taking time out of your Sundays to meet Lorraine. I'm still not over the excitement of having almost all my girls (except for the cupcake, who I missed greatly!)in one room, by the ocean, on a stormy day, sitting in front of steaming Coast Toast. I don't think it gets any better than that!
