Creating a Collection...

Susan and I visited Val on Tuesday, a beautiful clear and windy day. Even though there were wind advisories on the bridge, I managed to snap a picture that reminds us all why we live here!

When we got to Val's I was able to see first hand Val's creating "stations"...

On one end of her dinning table was Mr. Singer, on the other end was a skirt pined for pleats and ready to cut out with yarn balls displayed as a centerpiece and felting station on one side ready for Val to pick up the needle and start felting.

Now you would think that would pretty much take care of everything one would need to make things happen...but then as I looked around the first thing I really stopped me dead in my tracks was the most adorable little dress hanging (where else but) on a sconce on the wall! The first completed part of her collection for the FGI Style Awards - Night of the Stars show.

Per Val's request I swore us all to secrecy on what the collection is going to look like...but she let me snap a few teasers of what's to come!

On the floor on one area were stacks and stacks of sweaters in beautiful color pallets (sp?). And then she showed us the little boys fabrics and sweater swatches...so perfect! Of course, Lola couldn't be left out...notice the fluffy white patty paw!

Susan and I were standing in the middle of the room for the longest time just amazed by all the creativity that surrounded us! We told Val that we hope she'll remember all of us when she moves to NY or Paris and becomes a couture designer! We can all say we remember her when....

Can't wait to see it all come together Val! It's going to be awesome!!!

  2. Awww, Judy, thank you for documenting my progress. Your photos are wonderful! I'm being so careful about my "collection" (!) for this show. It took me all of yesterday to stitch up the pleated skirt. I ripped out every other seam I sewed. I really do drive myself crazy. I don't know how others can actually deal with me when I'm in this mode! I just hope I can get myself under control, so I move more quickly on the rest of the pieces! I so appreciate you and Susan dropping by, and bringing me all your constructive comments. You both helped me out greatly! I'll post photos as I get further along in the collection. -xx
