Kitties knitting?

I finally got the software out of the drawer where it's been hiding for forever...and hooked up my camera to download all my pictures. I was surprised to see shots from last year - well, really not surprised.

I've been giving my camera's memory card to Richard for him to beautify and send back to me. I'm forever grateful for his willingness to do this...but as every Type A wife, I got tired of asking and decided to take control myself. This blog entry is my attempt to import pictures without his help...hopefully you'll see the shots!

My cats as you can see, are a lap full! The black one is "Visitor" so name because he used to live 3 houses up the street until he started camping out on our front porch. Felt sorry for him, so I put a little bed on the porch for him. Then some food. Then some water. Then a toy. Then a few months went by and he was in the house, using the kitty
box, curling up on the couch, in the window and on my lap. Thus the name "Visitor". His previous owner's son (about 15 at the time) came over to tell us the cat's name was "Jorge" and he is a "bad" cat in the house. Hummmm, he's been a good kittie in our house and he stayed and stayed as did the name! Even though he's no longer a visitor!

The grey one - "Babies" used to really be small (even tho he was pretty grown when we first saw him)- still has really short legs, but everything else grew! He adopted us too! Was a street cat that slept in our back yard - running away everytime we got a little close. Over many many months we managed to earn his trust and he tentatively came in the house. Even though he's still smaller than Visitor and the last to arrive he is definitely Alpha Cat!

As is evident by the pictures Babies must be the center of attention - first making sure the FLS wasn't another cat honning in on his position in the family and then giving it noogies. Believe me the noogying didn't last long! Too much work in that sweater for it to be loved to death by kitty claws.

Oh yes...it was cold that night...so the kitties were an extra set of blankets! Ok Susan, I'm almost done...hope you haven't started sneezing!

Wanted to give the feline side of the pet world a nod. We go back and forth bewteen kitties and doggies...they all live with us til they die of old age. Now just happens to be in a kitty time!

  1. Love the pictures and the gentle reminder that it is not only a dog world even though one of us feels that way.

  2. I think they could win a Guinness World Record for being the two largest cats on earth! My heavens, what do you put in their kitty chow?! All I can see how comforting it must be for you to have them close on a cold winter evening (i did gag as a typed that but honestly could imagine how warm and cozy they could be ... to someone who is not allergic). Thanks for the photos.

  3. Okay, Judy. Even though I am highly allergic, I once lived with two kitties. High on allergy medicine, I managed to finally develop a tolerance, and was actually a privileged visitor in their environment. They are highly intelligent animals, and quite fun to watch. It's just that my tolerance quickly wore off, and I took my liking to birdies. Then, later, doggies managed to work their way into my life. Kitties just don't fit, and I'm not sure they ever will. I do appreciate a friendly gutter cat, as long as I wash my hands right away after a petting session.

    I loved your post :o)
