Faves

What Are Yours?
Okay, a new reason to post! My faves can change every day, or sometimes hour to hour. I know, I'm fickle. Well, okay, maybe just SOMETIMES. In any case, here are my faves for today:

1. My sewing machine. Though it's an ugly old Singer, and though the tension goes out on me about every other day (touchy, touchy!), it's still one of my best friends. It takes me through thick and thin, it zigs, zags, can make a button hole, and sews through SO many layers of purse fabric. Man, this machine ROCKS. I love it :o)

2. My (crack) tea. Okay, I am still addicted. It's pretty bad. I don't care how much work it is, I just have to get out all the tins, and the fancy rock sugar, and brew up this heavenly concoction so I can watch the handrolled green tea buds unfurl. It's delightful, healthy to drink, and fabulous hot or cold. Now, if I could get a bit better organized, I'd make it in bulk so I could drink it all day long... like Gail drinks tea. Nothin' wrong with that, I say!

3. My latest purse, Mr. Cabernet. Now, if you have taken a moment to read my blog, you will find a post called "Inspiration", which is, I think, informative about the process, and is readable... hmmm, does that make sense? Anyhow, process... It's what makes us tick. Sometimes the process is good, sometimes the way smooth, sometimes as difficult as navigating a ship through rough waters (have I done that? I think ... no..), but the process of creation can seem like what it might take to do just that. The process of this purse was difficult, but successful. I love it, and may not be able to part with this birdie friend. Well, at least not until the next friend comes along. By the way, the green flower purse sold the minute it showed it's spring like face at Austin's. Still a bit wistful about that old friend...

4. MY OTT LIGHT! I love one, two, all three of them! Yeah! My eyes might be disintegrating right inside my aging body, but those Ott lights make everything possible. Oh yeah.

Okay, those are my faves for the day. Now, I hope you will talk about yours. Now, Gail, you might need to think about this c a r e f u l l y. There might be a limit on how long a post can be. :o)

I'm looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday for a catch up session, a chin wag, and a much needed (by me) visit. Are we still planning for Susan's house? Will you be back in town, Marcia? Will you be so cruised and sexed up that you can manage with us?! (Just kidding, though that's how I hope you are right about now!) Judy, can you make the am shift? Love you all... :ox

  1. Love this post! Very inspiring. Creating is a wonderful, but it is a process, sometimes it just happens and sometimes it is a struggle. I am very inspired right now in my studio, surrounded by many things that make me happy. So, you are right my list would need some limits for at least a day at a time. I will work on that today!

    Love,
    G

  2. Val,
Thank you for such an inspiring post! One purse is cuter than the next so I don't know how you let any of them go! Pl bring this one with you on Tuesday if it's not too much trouble. Really want to see it. As I type, I'm looking out at the wisteria and see an orange hooded/breasted bird with a very plump chest. I called David in to see him and David said, Oh, that's an orange-breasted twitter-tot! Jerk. It's my fault for even asking a straight question. Anyway, by the time I got my camera the Great Orange One had left (probably insulted by the name calling). It was a perfect color for you, Val!
Now you've got me to thinking about my favorite things. It's a wonderful exercise in appreciating the things around you. I'll have to take an inventory!
Looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday, between 10 and 10:30!

  3. What a great idea to think about our faves! Of course the first thing I go to is the people in my life and then...of course...my kitties. When my baby cat (not really a baby) left home this week and didn't show up for 3 days (never did that before) I was sure he was gone. Then he showed up with a limp. Not sure I'll get through that if it ever happens again! So of course he's my fave kitty. I'll think about how I can narrow the rest of my faves down to 5 and post later.

Val the Singer you have is one of the best, before they switched to plastic! It's a great work horse - I can see why you love it - tension issues and all!

About Tues., I have 2 doctor's appointments but will try to push them a little closer together tomorrow so I can come for a little while. I took the 24th off and the next one in April (is Easter week) and I'll rework my schedule so I can be there for that one too. Time for me to bring the lunch - Susan are you up to me using your kitchen?

    luv judy

  4. What?! Is there such a thing os an 'orange breasted twitter-tot'? Man, that David! Just making stuff up to look good! Sheesh, give him and inch and he takes a mile. I'm going to bring my birding book on Tuesday and see if there's even such an animal. We'll find the right name yet so you can put David right back into his - obviously very smug - place!

  5. Oh, yes Val, do bring your book. You've got David's number, alright! I'm keeping an eye out for the orange one and hope he makes an appearance tomorrow so you can see him. I bought a book home from the shop to look over with you ... it's about knitting and teas and it looks lovely, especially on kind of a grey day like today. Really looking foward to tomorrow....got to run now and joyfully get ready for it!
